§ 948-29. Fees for volunteer fire fighters and ambulance workers.

  • A. 
    The County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation is hereby required, pursuant to §§ C28-3A(4) and C28-4A of the Suffolk County Charter, and § 643-11 of the Suffolk County Code, to charge volunteer fire fighters and volunteer ambulance workers who are Suffolk County residents a fee for the use of County parks and facilities that is equivalent to whatever the fee is for a senior citizen for any such use or activity in any County Park, except as to golf fees, effective immediately, and those portions of § 948-26 of this article, pertaining to such fees, except as to golf fees, are hereby amended by the addition of such required parity of fees.
    B. 
    This program shall be implemented under the supervision of the County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation, which Department shall promulgate rules and regulations to implement this section.
    C. 
    Eligibility under this program for exemption from such fees by volunteer fire fighters or volunteer ambulance workers shall be conditioned upon submission of an identification card verifying the status of the fire fighter or ambulance worker holding such card as a volunteer member of a fire department, ambulance company or fire district located within the County of Suffolk and submission of proof that the fire fighter or ambulance worker is a Suffolk County resident.
